I'm reviving this blog from the dead for a quick post. I've been trying to update my website, but it's in ancient HTML created in GoLive, which doesn't work on my computer anymore. So until I'm able to figure something else out, I'll use this blog to showcase new work.<br><br>
I've been working on some new samples for RPG work. Here are some new ones, hot off the press.<br><br>

I painted this one a few years ago for the first Spectrum Fantastic Art Live show. It was my first attempt at watercolors on watercolor canvas. I like the process. I think it'll stick.

This one is also from a few years ago. This is a cover for an online comic based on "Realm of LARP", a TV reality show my sister worked on. It was a bit of a challenge because each character had to work individually on the same background. They were going to be used as origin stories for arch of the actors/contestants on the TV show.

These two are my favorites.

Halloween is over and it is time to clean up all the cobwebs on this blog.<br />
<br />
Starting off with some paintings I did last year on Halloween at <a href="http://www.pnca.edu/">PNCA</a>. I was doing a demo in my friend's <a href="http://www.chucklukacs.com/">Chuck Lukacs's</a> painting class. Chuck brought out some costumes and props to dress the model (<a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com/search/label/Chris">Chris</a>) and I got to work with a clothed model for a change.<br />

<br />
<br />
The next batch were done back at the good old <a href="http://societyillustrators.org/">Society of Illustrators</a> Jazz & Sketch. I was in NY on three separate occasions this year and took the time to go hang out with everyone at the Society. On Thursday nights, they do themed costume nights. I don't remember what the themes were but I got some fun drawings done there.

Back in Portland, my regular figure studio (<a href="http://hipbonestudio.com/">Hipbone</a>) has also been experimenting with costumed poses. Sometimes it's unintentional, like when a model fails to show up, Jeff Burke, the owner and moderator steps in like a trooper. Jeff used to model professionally at the Art Student's League in NYC and has modeled for Andy Warhol (back when he actually painted his own stuff). Jeff celebrated his 25th Anniversary as the owner and operator of Hipbone Studio back in September.<br />

Other times the costumes are hastily thrown together and lack the showmanship of the burlesque models at the Society of Illustrators. But I still have a good time focusing on my favorite part of the model, the face.<br />

Where all the cool art nerds will be, of course. In Kansas City, Missouri. <br /><br />(Record Scratch!!!)<br /><br />Say WHAT? Why? Missouri? Really?<br /><br />Ya, I'll be at <a href="http://www.spectrumfantasticart.com/spectrumfantasticartlive/">Spectrum Fantastic Art Live</a> along with the who's who of the fantasy illustration community. I'll be sharing a booth with some guy named <a href="http://www.manchess.com/">Greg Manchess</a>. (whomever the hell THAT is?)<br /><br />No, Greg is a really good friend of mine and was (and still is) a hero of mine all through out college and beyond. I'm deeply honored to be stinking up his booth with my crappy artwork. ;) I'm doing my best to crank out some new work and finish off stuff that's been on the drawing board for a number of months now. I'll also have prints of some of my most recent illustrations, some of my <a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com">nudes</a>, and some of my <a href="http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=arkady+roytman&x=0&y=0">coloring books</a> for Dover.<br /><br />Here's an image of said recent piece.<br /><br /><img src="http://arkadyroytman.com/web3point5/Galleries/Illustration/BetweenTwoWorlds.jpg" alt=""Between Two Worlds" - Oil/Acrylic/Digital" width="437" height="600" border="0"><br /><br />It's a mix of oils, acrylics and digital.Arkady Roytmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02077339298015538327noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29489810.post-39684541167801867102012-02-19T02:45:00.000-05:002012-02-19T02:50:49.163-05:00I'm still alive - 2012 editionHowdy all.<br /><br />It's true I'm still alive. Once again I've gone forever without an update. I'm amazed by how many people check this blog daily even though I'm largely absent.<br /><br />I have a ton of stuff to post from 2011, but I'm more excited about 2012. So here is something I'm working on (still in progress). <br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2012/MtG_PRscorpionCL1.jpg" alt="MtG Scorpion (progress 01)" /><br /><br />I'll go in detail about this piece when I finish it (hopefully not another 6 months from now). What I will say is this is my attempt to get over a big creative rut I've been going through. I've been having a hard time just getting myself to a drawing table. And with deadlines looming this was a scary place to be. So in an attempt to overcome this rut, I decided to make today (02.18.2012) Illustration Day. My girlfriend and I took the day off from our commissioned assignments to work on an illustration with the object of the day to start and finish it. Rebecca succeeded in finishing hers. I succeeded in overcoming my rut. And I'm pretty happy with the progress so far. I'm gonna take another day later in the week to try and bring this to a final.<br /><br />Stay tuned.Arkady Roytmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02077339298015538327noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29489810.post-48107957232338112132011-06-10T20:10:00.005-04:002011-06-10T21:42:18.004-04:00Late Spring Update: L5R and Call of CthulhuSummer is almost upon us and it's been months since I checked in. I'm still alive (just barely) and still plugging away at this whole art thing. In a few days will be the 1-year anniversary of my life as a freelance illustrator. The year has had it's ebbs and flows and I'm still struggling to get used to them. But I'm currently in the "flow" stage which is why I have been neglectful of this blog. Unfortunately, I can't share all the work I've been doing in said "flow" stage due to those pesky NDA's that gaming companies love so damn much. So you'll have to settle for the work done during the "ebb" stage, in 2010. <br /><br />First up work from over a year ago, done back in February 2010. These are for <a href="http://www.alderac.com/">AEG</a>'s popular <a href="http://www.l5r.com/">Legend of the Five Rings CCG</a> game. These are a long time coming. They are from the <a href="http://www.l5r.com/war-of-honor/"><i>War of Honor</i></a> set that just came out a few days ago.<br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2011/L5R002web.jpg" alt="Legend of the Five Rings War of Honor 01" /><br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2011/L5R003web.jpg" alt="Legend of the Five Rings War of Honor 02" /><br /><br />I was still new to the world of L5R when painting these, so I really messed up on the characteristics of the particular clans I was illustrating. The female in that last illustration is supposed to be wearing a mask to hide part of her face dress way sexier than the conservative outfit I have her in. The male's colors are way off and don't even get me started on that samurai armor. UGG! But the AD never mentioned anything to me about these important story elements and the cards were approved. Maybe that's why I didn't get more L5R work until the end of 2010.<br /><br />In November 2010 I got an email from a new AD to work on the <a href="http://www.l5r.com/forgotten-legacy/"><i>Forgotten Legacy</i></a> expansion. This set is coming out next month, but the website has already spoiled 2 of my cards so it's safe to post them here. (I'll update the blog when they spoil the third card):<br /><br />(click on the images to see them in card form)<br /><a href="http://www.l5r.com/images/HunterofHarmony.jpg"><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2011/L5R004web.jpg" alt="Legend of the Five Rings: Forgotten Legacy - Hunter of Harmony" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://www.l5r.com/images/WindoftheMoon.jpg"><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2011/L5R005web.jpg" alt="Legend of the Five Rings: Forgotten Legacy - Wind of the Moon" /></a><br /><br />I'm not happy with these either. The figure in the first image is shameful. Someone has to beat me senseless for doing such a crappy job, especially since I practice painting the human figure on a weekly basis. Goes to show once again, that there is no substitute for good reference. <br /><br /><br />I also had the chance to work on <a href="http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/">Fantasy Flight Games'</a> <a href="http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_npm.asp?eidm=31">Call of Cthulhu: Silver Twilight</a> expansion.<br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2011/FFG02web.jpg" alt="Call of Cthulhu: Silver Twilight: Guitar" /><br /><br />This piece was done mid July as a "break" from apartment hunting in Portland after just moving there. Another one I'm not too crazy with.<br /><br /><br /><br />I think the issue for me is working digitally. I get hung up on the details (zooming in WAY too close) and fail to see the image as a whole. This is definitely something I've been trying to fix in 2011. My process has changed and evolved in the early part of this year and I can't wait to share the results with you. I'm actually proud of a few of them. <br /><br /><br />Before I go I'd like to highlight another milestone (bet you know what's coming). In a few day's I'll be celebrating the 4-year anniversary of my <i>Nude of the Day</i> blog and I'm running a sale throughout June. Click the banner for details:<br /><br /><a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com/2011/05/4-year-anniversary-sale-two-for-one.html"><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/NotD/NotDBlogSALE0611sm.jpg" alt="Nude of the Day - 4-Year Anniversary Sale" border="0" /></a><br /><br />AND as an added bonus, if you're a member of the <a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Arkady-Roytmans-Nude-of-the-Day/18733038204">Nude of the Day Facebook Fan Page</a> you get an extra 20% off your order!<br /><br /><br />Thanks for being patient with me. I'll be back real soon with some updates on my work for Dover and some watercolor illustrations.Arkady Roytmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02077339298015538327noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29489810.post-83135067306560211852011-01-02T10:00:00.000-05:002011-01-02T10:00:02.429-05:00Happy 2011!Howdy Everyone,<br /><br />Happy New Year to all of you!<br /><br /><a href="http://arkadyroytman.blogspot.com/2010/01/happy-2010.html">A year ago I wrote</a> that my biggest goal for 2010 was to pursue my freelance career full time. I'm happy to report that I was able to accomplish it in 2010. I went full-time freelance in the summer after quiting my day job at <a href="http://www.royalathena.com">Royal-Athena Galleries</a> and moving 3000 miles west to Portland, Oregon. It hasn't been an easy transition and 6 months in I'm still trying to work out a lot of the kinks that come with the freelance life style.<br /><br />The biggest change, one that I don't think I can ever get used to, is the absence of the weekly paycheck. I had to drastically change my standard of living. Good bye weekly sushi outings, hello PB&J. This hasn't been that hard mainly because I haven't found a good sushi place in Portland yet. But worrying about how I'm going to pay rent next month has not been fun. On the plus side, this experience has been a crash course in living within your means, something every freelancer need to learn to do.<br /><br />The other major issue is not having a daily routine fully worked out. I don't need to be anywhere at any certain time, so it's pretty easy to loose all structure and sleep in past noon. In NY, my freelance work day would start in the evenings after coming home from the full time work day. It has largely remained the same here in PDX. I typically start my workday way too late and burn the midnight oil a lot. So one of my resolutions for 2011 is to slowly edge this schedule down to the less vampiric hours.<br /><br />There are a few other changes that I'm still struggling to get used to, but I'm sure you really don't want to hear about this minutia. So on too some art.<br /><br />Last year I previewed a dragon head from a coloring book I did for Dover. Well the book just hit the shelves a week or so ago. Here is the front and back covers (note: I just did the art, the covers were designed and colored by the Dover art department):<br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/DV10cv1.jpg" alt="Build A Poster Knights and Dragons Front Cover"><br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/DV10cv2.jpg" alt="Build A Poster Knights and Dragons Back Cover"><br /><br /><br />...and some interior pages:<br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/DV10-Dragon.jpg" alt="Build A Poster Knights and Dragons Dragon"><br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/DV10-Trebuchet.jpg" alt="Build A Poster Knights and Dragons Trebuchet"><br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/DV10-Cyclops.jpg" alt="Build A Poster Knights and Dragons Cyclops"><br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/DV10-Army.jpg" alt="Build A Poster Knights and Dragons Army"><br /><br /><br />This was a fun project. I had to make 2 big illustrations that had to split into 12 individual images and each individual image had to be interesting enough to stand on it's own. It was a fun challenge that I took to my usual anal-retentive extremes. Here's another one I did immediately after, Fairy Princess:<br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/DV11cv1.jpg" alt="Build A Poster Fairy Princess"><br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/DV11cv2.jpg" alt="Build A Poster Fairy Princess"><br /><br />The first scene was you typical Princess in a magical garden scene:<br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/DV11-AngelHstone.jpg" alt="Build A Poster Fairy Princess Angel Statue"><br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/DV11-Princess.jpg" alt="Build A Poster Fairy Princess"><br /><br />...but for the second scene I got to draw a Princess defending her castle from an attacking horde of Orcs:<br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/DV11-Orcs1.jpg" alt="Build A Poster Fairy Princess Attacking Orcs1"><br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/DV11-Orcs2.jpg" alt="Build A Poster Fairy Princess Attacking Orcs2"><br /><br /><br />I also got to do a fun, glow-in-the-dark paper-dolls book that will be coming out some time before Halloween 2011. Here are some rejected sketches that sadly will not be in the book. We ended up dropping the demon and using a different pose for the Werewolf:<br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/DV12rj-luWWandD.jpg" alt="Creatures of the Night Werewolf and Demon"><br /><br />And the Zombies were a little too gruesome for kids so I PGed them for the final product:<br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/DV12rj-Zombies.jpg" alt="Creatures of the Night Zombies"><br /><br />I can't wait to see how they'll turn out in all their glow-in-the-dark glory.<br /><br />I was hoping to show off some work I did for the <a href="http://www.l5r.com/">Legends of the Five Rings</a> RPG, but AEG pushed back the release date to late February 2011. I've been working on a number of cards for them over the last few months and I'm starting on a new set soon that I'm very excited about. I also have some personal work that I'm very eager to get started on as soon as I finish my current obligations. I'm really looking forward to what 2011 has in store for me, and I hope to be able to share new work with you more often than I did this past year.<br /><br />Thank you all for checking in and being super patient with me. <br /><br />Oh and before I forget, today is the last day to take advantage of the Holiday Sale on Nude of the Day.<br /><br /><a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com/2010/11/holiday-sale-up-to-50-off-everything.html"><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/NotD/NotDsale200812.jpg" alt="Nude of the Day Holiday Sale"></a><br /><br />I realize that I never gave the readers of this blog a heads up about the 2-month long sale. So if you're still interested in getting some Nudes once the sale is over I'll be happy to extend the 50% off rates for you. Just email me and I'll take care of you.Arkady Roytmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02077339298015538327noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29489810.post-78469542855644140442010-09-16T17:55:00.000-04:002010-09-16T17:55:05.170-04:00The WAY Overdue Summer 2010 UpdateSummer is almost over and I am WAY overdue for an update. And what a summer it was. I started it by quiting my day job at <a href="http://www.royalathena.com/">Royal-Athena Galleries</a> and heading up to Amherst, MA for the <a href="http://www.illustrationmasterclass.com/">Illustration Master Class</a>. In between freaking out about no longer having a steady income and the upcoming move 3000 miles west to Portland, Oregon, I managed to cobble together a sketch and slap some paint on the canvas. And, according to <a href="http://www.manchess.com/">Greg Manchess</a>, I even had a breakthrough, though I'm still not 100% sure of that. I didn't finish my piece, but planning to get back to it in a few weeks after I finish off some freelance obligations.<br /><br />So immediately after the IMC I spent a week in a daze of cardboard boxes and packing tape. It's amazing how much crap you accumulate in 5 years. But while all that turmoil was going on, <a href="http://www.alderac.com/">AEG</a> released an expansion for their popular <a href="http://www.l5r.com/">Legend of the Five Rings CCG</a>. I was only able to do one card for the set:<br /><img src="http://arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/bl_L5R001fn.jpg" alt="Legend of the Five Rings 01" /><br /><br />Here are the sketches I sent to the AD:<br /><img src="http://arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/bl_L5R001sks.jpg" alt="Legend of the Five Rings 01 Sketches" /><br /><br />Also, at the same time, I received a package from <a href="http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/">Fantasy Flight Games</a>. It was a copy of their <a href="http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite.asp?eidm=29&enmi=Talisman">Talisman</a> expansion. As with L5R, I was only able to do one card for this set. And it was a stretch for me. An environment piece with no figures:<br /><img src="http://arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/bl_FFG01fn.jpg" alt="Fantasy Flight's Talisman: Avalanche" /><br /><br />The AD gave me the option to put a crazy monster into the illustration, which, in retrospect, I should have done. But I chose the literal route and decided on a landscape. Here are the sketches I sent the AD:<br /><img src="http://arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/bl_FFG01sks.jpg" alt="Fantasy Flight's Talisman: Avalanche Sketches" /><br />I liked the third sketch the best, but the AD picked the first one, because it best depicted the chaos he was looking for. As a compromise, I used an element from sketch #3 in the final. See if you can spot it.<br /><br />July was a mad dash to find an apartment in Portland and getting acclimated to my new surroundings. I also managed to do another piece for Fantasy Flight. Unfortunately it is still under NDA.<br /><br />And August was pure insanity. After getting ripped off by the movers and paying twice what I expected I found my savings dwindle to just $50. So it was Ramen noodles and PB&J for a while. The watercolors from my Nude of the Day blog survived the trek west, so I decided to get rid of them in a month-long and a way overdue (get the theme yet?) sale:<br /><a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com/2010/08/3-year-anniversary-sale-two-for-one.html"><img src="http://arkadyroytman.com/NotD/NotDsale201008.jpg" alt="Nude of the Day - 3-Year Anniversary Sale" border="0" /></a><br /><br />But in my usual fashion, I failed to promote the sale, so it was a bust. If anyone reading this blog is sorry they missed the sale, I will gladly extend it for you. Just shoot me an <a href="mailto:arkady@arkadyroytman.com?subject=Nude%20of%20the%20Day%20-%203-Year%20Anniversary%20Sale">email</a>.<br /><br />And, if you have some spending cash left over afterward, check out what my girlfriend has been up to and send some cash her way:<br /><a href="http://beccaseda.etsy.com/"><img src="http://arkadyroytman.com/drop/BeccaSeda600.jpg" alt="BeccaSeda Banner" border="0" /></a><br /><br />August also was the end of my 3rd decade on this shiny blue planet and the beginning of my 4th. And on my 30th birthday, Dover released my <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Vampire-Nights-Stained-Coloring-Colouring/dp/0486476383">Vampire Nights Stained Glass Coloring Book</a>. Here are a few pages from the book:<br /><img src="http://arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/bl_DV09-GraveyardCL.jpg" alt="Dover Vampire Nights: Graveyard" /><br /><img src="http://arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/bl_DV09-InHisArms.jpg" alt="Dover Vampire Nights: In His Arms" /><br /><img src="http://arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/bl_DV09-Umbrella.jpg" alt="Dover Vampire Nights: Umbrella" /><br /><img src="http://arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/bl_DV09-Car.jpg" alt="Dover Vampire Nights: Car" /><br /><br />And now in September I'm starting another "Vampire" project for Dover. I, too, am riding the Vampire craze as far as it takes me.<br /><br />I hope this makes up for my lack of posts over the past few months. Here's another small nugget, a sketch for another portfolio piece I'll try to squeeze in when I have the time:<br /><img src="http://arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/bl_MermanSK.jpg" alt="Merman Sketch" />Arkady Roytmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02077339298015538327noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29489810.post-52254498239827916462010-04-15T13:03:00.003-04:002010-04-15T13:30:06.834-04:00Spring 2010 Update - C2E2Howdy Everyone,<br /><br />This is a last minute update. I have a table in the Artist's Alley at <a href="http://www.c2e2.com/">C2E2</a> in Chicago happening this weekend. Come visit me at table A6. This will be my first time ever behind the table and it's kind of a last minute thing, so I apologize in advance if my display leaves something to be desired. I brought with me a bunch of my coloring books for Dover Publications, including my <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Sherlock-Holmes-Sticker-Activity-Little/dp/0486474461">Sherlock Holmes Sticker Activity Book</a>, which I had not shown on this blog before.<br /><br />here's the cover:<br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/DV07SherlockA.jpg" alt="Dover Sherlock Holmes Sticker Activity Book 01"><br /><br />the background image, on which you put the stickers to make your scene:<br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/DV07SherlockB.jpg" alt="Dover Sherlock Holmes Sticker Activity Book 02"><br /><br />and some pages of stickers:<br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/DV07SherlockC.jpg" alt="Dover Sherlock Holmes Sticker Activity Book 03"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/DV07SherlockD.jpg" alt="Dover Sherlock Holmes Sticker Activity Book 04"><br /><br /><br />I'm also bringing prints of a "newish" illustration I did for White Wolf's <a href="http://www.white-wolf.com/vtes/">Vampire: the Eternal Struggle</a> CCG. This was for the <a href="http://www.white-wolf.com/index.php?articleid=1166">Heirs to the Blood</a> expansion set (released a few months ago):<br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/WW001Thaumaturgy.jpg" alt="VTES Heirs to the Blood Card"><br /><br />here's a series of sketches I sent the AD for approval:<br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/WW001ThaumaturgySKs.jpg" alt="VTES Heirs to the Blood Sketches"><br /><br />And I'll also have a bunch of original watercolors from <a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com">Nude of the Day</a>.<br /><br />Hope to see you there.Arkady Roytmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02077339298015538327noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29489810.post-13662022505765223112010-03-11T13:00:00.000-05:002010-03-11T13:00:02.078-05:00Nude of the Day Rejects Part 5 -1000 NudesBig day today on <a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com">Nude of the Day</a>. Today I posted my <font color="red"><b>1000th Nude!</b></font><br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/NotD/NotD1000.jpg" alt="Nude of the Day 1000" border="0" /><br /><br />Here is the image:<br /><a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com/2010/03/03112010-1000th-nude.html"><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/NotD/20100311WEB.jpg" alt="Martina Seated In Semi-Profile, Looking Left" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br />And I have more Rejects for you. A few Thursdays ago the theme of the night was belly dancing:<br /><img src="http://arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/WC_BellyDancing.jpg" alt="Belly Dancing"><br /><br />Here are a few of <a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com/search/label/Darlinda%20Just%20Darlinda">Darlinda Just Darlinda</a>.<br /><img src="http://arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/WC_DarlindaBellyDancing01.jpg" alt="Darlinda Belly Dancing Portrait"><br /><img src="http://arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/WC_DarlindaBellyDancing02.jpg" alt="Darlinda Belly Dancing"><br /><br /><br />There as another night with a salsa dancing theme:<br /><a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com/search/label/Rainbow">Rainbow</a> and <a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com/search/label/Raphael">Raphael</a><br /><img src="http://arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/WC_RainbowInLacyShirt.jpg" alt="Rainbow In A Lacy Shirt"><br /><img src="http://arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/WC_RainbowRaphael.jpg" alt="Rainbow and Raphael"><br /><br /><br />And a quick little sketch of <a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com/search/label/World Famous "Bob"">The World Famous "Bob"</a>.<br /><img src="http://arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/WC_WorldFamousBobFace.jpg" alt="World Famous Bob Quick Portrait Sketch"><br /><br /><br />Also, a few months back I had a mini freak-out because I had not oil painted in a long time. I took an evening that I should have been working on my deadlines and decided to do a quick oil study. I used a modified version of the Zorn palette. The Zorn palette is a limited palette of yellow ochre, cadmium red light, ivory black and white, which <a href="http://www.anderszorn.org/">Anders Zorn</a> used only a few times to showcase how much range one could get from having color and value interact with one another. I think I used a different red and used a sepia brown with an ultramarine blue instead of the ivory black. This was painted from a photograph in an art magazine.<br /><img src="http://arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/OilSK-African.jpg" alt="Oil Sketch of an African"><br /><br /><br /><br />Related Posts: <a href="http://arkadyroytman.blogspot.com/2008/12/nude-of-day-rejects.html">Nude of the Day Rejects: Part 1</a>Arkady Roytmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02077339298015538327noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29489810.post-18763155802533146372010-01-18T00:09:00.002-05:002010-01-18T00:27:27.976-05:00Happy 2010!Howdy Everyone,<br /><br />I know I'm a little late to the party, but I'd like to wish everyone a Happy New Year! <br />I started off the year swamped with freelance deadlines and a nasty cold slowing me down. I'm finally getting a lot of last year's stuff out of the way and it's given me a moment to reflect on 2009 and set up some goals for 2010.<br /><br />My biggest goal for 2010 is to pursue my freelance career full time. I'm at that point where the freelance is enough to have me pulling all kinds of crazy hours outside of my day job but not enough to support my retarded-high New York rent and food expenses. I started off 2009 with just one client, and was lucky enough to pick up another few throughout the year. A few of them in the RPG card game industry, something I've been hoping to do for a while now. In 2010 I'm targeting the Big Kahuna in the RPG industry, <a href="http://www.wizards.com/">Wizards of the Coast</a>. I've hung out with a bunch of the AD's from Wizards over the past few years and had some great reviews from them.<br /><br />One of the AD's who's been a great source of information is Jon Schindehette (the Senior AD for Dungeons & DragonsĀ®). On his blog <a href="http://artorder.blogspot.com/">ArtOder</a> he posts great insights into the inner workings of Wizards of the Coast, answers questions from the AD's perspective, spotlights all kinds of great artists, runs weekly creative challenges, and a whole lot more. I tried to participate in as many of the weekly challenges as possible, but only managed to finish up one, the one for the <a href="http://artorder.blogspot.com/2009/06/vampires-tuesday-challenge.html">Vampires Challenge</a>. Here is my entry:<br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/AOVampiresFNsm.jpg" alt="ArtOrder Vampires Challenge"><br /><br /><br />One of the funnest challenges form last year was the <a href="http://artorder.blogspot.com/2009/07/drow-vs-mind-flayer-part-1.html">Drow vs. Mind Flayer Challenge</a>. Jon enlisted top AD's in the industry to help him judge the challenge and it was a great opportunity for exposure. Unfortunately, due to prior deadlines for Dover and a fun week bleeding after sinus surgery, I wasn't able to finish my piece in time. I planned to finish it up after the deadline but haven't gotten around to it. Here's where I'm at:<br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/AO-DrowCV01.jpg" alt="Drow vs Mind Flayer Cover"><br /><br />detail:<br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/AO-DrowCV01det.jpg" alt="Drow vs Mind Flayer Cover detail"><br /><br />There's probably some things I'd change in the composition but overall I'm happy with the direction it's headed.<br /><br />One of the other really helpful things Jon used to do (and I hope he gets back to doing this year) was post selections from the D&D style guide so that non-D&D-playing artists like myself can familiarize ourselves with the characters of the D&D world. Every Thursday that Jon posted a style guide I'd spend my lunch hour at work sketching up some compositions and character studies. I also started using the style guides for warm-up sketches before tackling my freelance work. Here are a few:<br /><br /><a href="http://artorder.blogspot.com/2009/03/tieflings.html">Tieflings</a><br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2009/ArtOrderTIEFLINGS1.jpg" alt="Tiefling Sketch 01"><br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2009/ArtOrderTIEFLINGS3.jpg" alt="Tiefling Sketch 03"><br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2009/ArtOrderTIEFLINGS4.jpg" alt="Tiefling Sketch 04"><br /><br />A watercolor warm-up sketch:<br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/AO-TieflingWCsk1.jpg" alt="Tiefling Watercolor Sketch 01"><br /><br />And with some digital on top:<br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/AO-TieflingWCsk2.jpg" alt="Tiefling Watercolor Sketch 02"><br /><br /><a href="http://artorder.blogspot.com/2009/03/dragonborn.html">Dragonborn</a><br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/ArtOrderDRAGONBORN1.jpg" alt="Dragonborn Sketch 01"><br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/AO-DragonbornWCsk.jpg" alt="Dragonborn Watercolor Sketch 01"><br /><br />Lucky for me, the stars aligned themselves and I spent most of 2009 working on books for Dover that related to the RPG game industry. Dover just published my <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Fantasy-Warriors-Stained-Coloring-Colouring/dp/0486473724/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1263788251&sr=1-7">Fantasy Warriors Stained Glass Coloring Book</a>. Here are a some pages form that:<br /><br />Front Cover:<br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/DV06FrontCover.jpg" alt="Dover Fantasy Warriors Front Cover"><br /><br />Back Cover:<br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/DV06BackCover.jpg" alt="Dover Fantasy Warriors Back Cover"><br /><br />Orc:<br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/DV06Orc.jpg" alt="Dover Fantasy Warriors Orc"><br /><br />Angel:<br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/DV06Angel.jpg" alt="Dover Fantasy Warriors Angel"><br /><br />Devil Girl:<br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/DV06DevilGirl.jpg" alt="Dover Fantasy Warriors Devil Girl"><br /><br />It was a fun project to work on and I used it as an excuse to work up a bunch of sketches and collect a ton of reference that I may be able to use in the future. <br /><br />Also, I just finished up a project for Dover that had a dragon in it. And thanks to Jon's critique of my dragon at GenCon, I was able to make a stronger image for this project. Here's a sneak peek:<br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2010/DV10-DragonDet.jpg" alt="Dragon">Arkady Roytmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02077339298015538327noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29489810.post-31017388319439205832009-12-01T11:11:00.004-05:002009-12-01T11:39:45.319-05:00Nude of the Day Rejects Part 4Howdy Gang,<br /><br />Once again freelance work and life has gotten in the way of updating this blog. I hope to have it in time for <a href="http://www.illuxcon.com/">IlluxCon</a> in November.<br /><br /><br />Second, <a href="http://societyillustrators.org/museum/spectrum.cms">Spectrum Show II</a> will be up at the Society of Illustrators from September 1st to the October 17th. I had the honor of helping <a href="http://www.spectrumfantasticart.com/">Arnie and Cathy Fenner</a>, <a href="http://igallo.blogspot.com/">Irene Gallo</a> and <a href="http://www.manchess.com/">Greg Manchess</a> curate the show. The opening for the show is on Friday September 11th and will be followed by Art Out Loud demos on September 12th. If you can spare the $40 entrance fee, I highly recommend you make it to the opening. If not, come see the show any other day when it is free. <br /><br /><br />Also, I updated my website. It's not a big update, just a few "newish" pieces in the Illustration section, but its an update non-the-less.<br /><a href="http://arkadyroytman.com/web3point5/Galleries/Illustration/DragonSlayer.html"><img src="http://arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2009/DragonSlayerBlog.jpg" alt="Dragon Slayer"></a><br /><br />The update was spurred on by <a href="http://www.gencon.com/2009/indy/">GenCon 2009</a> (got to keep those portfolio sites updated). I went out Indianapolis to help out my friend <a href="http://www.stevenbelledin.com/">Steven Belledin</a>. He told me months ago "Come out to Indy, show your portfolio to gaming publishers, and you will get work", and I did. Two days after GenCon, White Wolf called with a job. W00t!<br />I had a great time hanging out with my friends in the Artist's Alley and meeting new ones. One new friend, <a href="http://www.mchughstudios.com/">Jeremy McHugh</a>, recorded my mindless babble for the <a href="http://ninjamountain.blogspot.com/">Ninja Mountain Podcast</a> (which is a MUST listen for everyone in the illustration field). <br /><br />In other news, a few weeks ago I received several sets of the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Ancient-Greece-Discovery-Kit-Dover/dp/0486474887/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1251146485&sr=8-3">Ancient Greek Discovery Kit</a> from Dover, which collected a few coloring books (one of them mine) and included crayons and an 11x17 poster I did of the <i>Battle of Marathon</i>. I'll make it up throughout this month.<br /><br />Thursday night Jazz & Sketch sessions over at the Society of Illustrators underwent a small change in 2009. They are now modeled after the old 3 on 3 Thursdays only with two models. What that means is that the models dress up in all sorts of crazy costumes and bring along all sorts of props. Unfortunately for me, I can't use the drawings on my <a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com">Nude of the Day Blog</a>. But the plus is that I have content to post here with another excuse to mention <i>Nude of the Day</i>. Here is a small selection:<br /><br /><a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com/search/label/Amelia">Amelia</a><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2009/WC_AmeliaFace.jpg" alt="Amelia's Portrait In Profile"><br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2009/WC_AmeliaInCorset.jpg" alt="Amelia In A Black Corset, Reclining"><br /><br /><a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com/search/label/Kika">Kika</a><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2009/WC_Kika.jpg" alt="Kika Seated In A White Dress"><br /><br /><a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com/search/label/Darlinda Just Darlinda">Darlinda</a><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2009/WC_Darlinda.jpg" alt="Two Head Studies Of Darlinda and Gigi"><br /><br />Also, two weeks ago I posted my 700th Nude:<br /><a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com/2009/05/05152009.html"><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/NotD/20090515.jpg" alt="Louisa As A Gypsy, Standing In Profile, Her Left Hand On Her Hip" border="0" /></a><br /><br />If my constant mentions of <i>Nude of the Day</i> haven't convinced you to head on over and check out my latest nudes, maybe the 2 for 1 Sale to celebrate the 2-Year Anniversary will. <br /><a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com/2009/06/2-year-anniversary-sale-two-for-one.html"><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/NotD/NotDsale200906.jpg" alt="Nude of the Day - 2-Year Anniversary Sale" border="0" /></a><br />Click on image for details of the Sale.<br /><br /><br />Related Posts: <a href="http://arkadyroytman.blogspot.com/2008/12/nude-of-day-rejects.html">Nude of the Day Rejects: Part 1</a>Arkady Roytmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02077339298015538327noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29489810.post-49266272388477000342009-03-12T12:58:00.001-04:002009-03-12T13:08:56.032-04:00Freelance work for Dover Publications Part 2I've been really busy with all sorts of deadlines for <a href="http://store.doverpublications.com/">Dover Publications</a>, hence the lack of updates for a while. Some of the stuff I did for Dover over the summer has recently come out (I got my copies of the Treasures of King Tut's Tomb Stained Glass Coloring Book yesterday).<br /><br /><br />I did this in June, right around the time the Indiana Jones 4 came out. Tried my best not to look at Indy stuff while working on this obvious Indy rip off. Dover even used the Indy font. Lots of deadlines keeping me from posting more regularly. They're also keeping me from regularly sketching in my Moleskine. I started this in May 2008. I'm about two thirds of the way through it. There a a lot of work-related sketching in this one. And lots of messes.<br /><br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2009/Moleskine05-01.jpg" alt="Moleskine 5.0 Page 01"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2009/Moleskine05-02.jpg" alt="Moleskine 5.0 Page 02"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2009/Moleskine05-03.jpg" alt="Moleskine 5.0 Page 03"><br /><br />The page on the right is my girl-friend <a href="http://www.rebeccasilvers.com">Rebecca Silvers</a> taking over a page (and then showing much concern after I told this would make it online one day).<br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2009/Moleskine05-04.jpg" alt="Moleskine 5.0 Page 04"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2009/Moleskine05-05.jpg" alt="Moleskine 5.0 Page 05"><br /><br />Some short sketches form the Society of Illustrators. Part of it is I was busy finishing up some work. And I spent most of October traveling (Art Retreat, Wedding, visiting my best friend <a href="http://crookedart.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Lana</a> in Chicago for <a href="http://crookedart.blogspot.com/2008/10/my-crazy-solo-show.html" target="_blank">her solo show</a>). I didn't do much art at the Art Retreat so there was nothing new to show. And the only thing I remember of November, besides being sick for two weeks, is Thanksgiving (which was AWESOME!!!). <br /><br />So with no new art to share, I was stuck trying to figure out what to put up here on the blog. Two days ago I was hanging out with my friend <a href="http://joebluhm.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Joe Bluhm</a> and the Society of Illustrators Sketch Night and he, inadvertently, helped me come up with a topic for this post. About two years back, Joe put together a great book of his drawings from his days as a Caricaturist in the theme parks in Orlando. He called the book <a href="http://www.rejectsthebook.com/home" target="_blank"><i>Rejects</i></a> because the drawings tended to take a lot of artistic license, and the tourists with no sense of humor rejected the drawings. I know you guys are probably tired of me writing about my <a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com">Nude of the Day Blog</a>, but I have my own share of rejects that never make it to that blog (mainly because they are usually portraits, heads and generally not very nude drawings, and therefore won't fit in with the <i>Nude of the Day</i> theme). Here is a small selection of my <i>Nude of the Day</i> Rejects:<br /><br /><a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com/search/label/Kika">Kika</a><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2008/Heads001.jpg"><br /><br /><a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com/search/label/Nikki">Nikki</a><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2008/Heads002.jpg"><br /><br /><a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com/search/label/Piera">Piera</a><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2008/Heads003.jpg"><br /><br /><a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com/search/label/Alexis">Alexis</a><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2008/Heads004.jpg"><br /><br /><a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com/search/label/Sara">Sara</a><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2008/Heads005.jpg"><br /><br />and <a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com/search/label/Jim">Jim</a><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2008/Heads006.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2008/Heads007.jpg"><br /><br />And some sketches of the models in costume around Holloween time:<br /><a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com/search/label/Doug">Doug</a><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2008/SoI-Holloween2008-01.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2008/SoI-Holloween2008-01det.jpg"><br /><br />and <a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com/search/label/Stephanie">Stephanie</a><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2008/SoI-Holloween2008-02.jpg"><br /><br />Also, As long as were talking about <i>Nude of the Day</i> (I know I'm bad) might as well plug the Holiday Sale I'm having throughout December. Not for the chance to be in a different world, pretending to be a monster or a goblin (I've never touched <i>Dungeons & Dragons</i>), but for the Illustrations. I haven't played the game for over 10 years. I don't think I even remember how to play it anymore. But every time a new set comes out I scour the interwebs for the art. I have several friends that illustrate for <a href="http://www.wizards.com/" target="_blank">Wizards of the Coast</a> (the company that publishes <i>Magic: The Gathering</i> and <i>Dungeons & Dragons</i>), some even make a decent living from it. <br /><br />It's always been my goal to work for WotC but my portfolio does not reflect this. So I've been playing around with compositions and sketching out ideas that I'd like to eventually turn into a portfolio for RPGs. Here are some doodles I did last week on my lunch break at work:<br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2008/RPGsk0801.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2008/RPGsk0802.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2008/RPGsk0803.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2008/RPGsk0804.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2008/RPGsk0805.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2008/RPGsk0806.jpg"><br /><br />What do you think? Are there any that jump out at you? Any I should develop further or forget about?Arkady Roytmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02077339298015538327noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29489810.post-74138761285051832652008-08-25T13:11:00.005-04:002008-08-25T16:30:58.048-04:00Freelance work for Dover PublicationsWow, it's been over a month since my last update. Not good.<br /><br />I went off to California last month for a little break from NY, and came back to a mountain-load of work.<br /><br />Thanks to the referral of my good friend <a href="http://www.scottaltmann.com/" target="_blank">Scott Altmann</a>, I've been working on coloring books for <a href="http://store.doverpublications.com/" target="_blank">Dover Publications</a>. Between working a full-time job (almost full-time, I've been at lest an hour late consistently over the last 3-6 months), and helping out at the <a href="http://www.societyillustrators.org/" target="_blank">Society of Illustrators</a>, I've been burning the midnight oil working on the books for Dover. <br />The first one, Extreme Sports Coloring Book, is coming out October 17th. <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Extreme-Sports-Dover-Colouring-Books/dp/0486466884/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1219684212&sr=1-1" target="_blank">Amazon has it for pre-order</a>. I'm not too crazy about the cover... <br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2008/ExtremeSportsCover.jpg"><br />(not my font choices)<br /><br />...but some of the interior pages turned out pretty nice.<br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2008/ATV_RACING.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2008/INLINE_SKATING.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2008/KITE_BOARDING.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2008/MOTOR_CROSS.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2008/SHIFT_RACING.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2008/SNOWBOARDING.jpg"><br /><br />I wish I had more sketchbooks to show, but the Dover work kinda took over my life in the summer time, so I haven't been able to do much personal sketching. Hopefully this will change as I better incorporate my freelance work into my already busy schedule.<br /><br /><br />In other news, the good folks over at <a href="http://www.spectrumfantasticart.com" target="_blank">Spectrum</a> plugged my <a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com/2008/07/best-of-nude-of-day-year-one-book.html">Best of Nude of the Day: Year One book</a> in their <a href="http://www.spectrumfantasticart.com/full_content.php?article_id=799&full=yes&pbr=1" target="_blank">ComicCon International coverage</a>. That's very nice of them, especially after I got hostile with Arlo Burnett.<br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/drop/Sketchbook/2008/Arlo.jpg"><br /><br />Also, I created a <a href="http://www.new.facebook.com/home.php#/pages/Arkady-Roytmans-Nude-of-the-Day/18733038204?ref=nf">Facebook fan page for Nude of the Day</a>. If you are a member of Facebook, head over and become a fan of the blog. I will be updating the page with my favorite images and will notify fans of upcoming promotions and special offers.Arkady Roytmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02077339298015538327noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29489810.post-5307715627081137632008-07-23T12:35:00.003-04:002008-07-23T12:41:21.255-04:00Best of Nude of the Day: Year One - Order Yourself a CopyI'm about to get on a plane to San Diego for the annual ComiCon and I wanted to let everyone know that I'm bringing advance copies of <i><b>Best of Nude of the Day: Year One</b></i>. If you still haven't gotten your dad a present you should take advantage of <a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com/2008/05/1-year-anniversary-sale-two-for-one.html">the sale I'm having throughout the month of June</a>. What dad wouldn't like two beautiful nude women for Father's Day?<br /><br /><br />Well today is the One Year Anniversary of my <a href="http://nudeoftheday.blogspot.com">Nude of the Day Blog</a>, so it's a good time to reflect on the year worth of nudes. And I'm doing said reflecting in the form of a book. After hearing good things about <a href="http://www.blurb.com/" target=_blank>print-on-demand publisher Blurb</a>, and seeing the quality results firsthand, I decided to go ahead and collect some of my favorite drawings and paintings published on the Blog in <i><b>Best of Nude of the Day: Year One</b></i>.<br /><br />Here are some of the pieces I'm considering for the book:<br /><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/NotD/20070618.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/NotD/20070710.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/NotD/20070723.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/NotD/20070731.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/NotD/20070805.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/NotD/20070910.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/NotD/20070922.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/NotD/20070930.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/NotD/20071001.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/NotD/20071005.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/NotD/20071101.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/NotD/20071107.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/NotD/20071225.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/NotD/20071231.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/NotD/20080108.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/NotD/20080223.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/NotD/20080311.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/NotD/20080313.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/NotD/20080328.jpg"><br /><img src="http://www.arkadyroytman.com/NotD/20080405.jpg"><br /><br /><br />What do you think? Are there any pieces you would like to see in the collection?<br /><br />I'll be putting this together over the next month and will try to have them ready toward the end of July. I'll be posting some previews in early July with pre-order information.<br /><br /><br />Related Posts: <a href="http://arkadyroytman.blogspot.com/2008/07/best-of-nude-of-day-preview.html">Best of Nude of the Day: Preview</a>Arkady Roytmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02077339298015538327noreply@blogger.com5
